About Friends of York Hospitals

The Friends of York Hospitals – our members – are our volunteers, our trustees and our supporters. They come from York and the surrounding area, including the local schools, colleges and universities. They often have a personal reason why they want to support their local hospital, but not always.

All of our volunteers are automatically members of Friends of York Hospitals. Some volunteers regularly see other Friends when they come in to volunteer. Others rarely do, but get the chance to meet their fellow members at FOYH coffee mornings and fundraising events.

We also have members who are unable to volunteer, but still want to show they support what we do by paying a membership subscription. These supporters receive newsletters, get invited to fundraising and social events, and have the right to vote alongside our volunteers and trustees at Annual General Meetings (AGMs).

Finally, we have volunteers and trustees who are also supporters. Although they are automatically members because of their voluntary work, they choose to pay a membership subscription because they want to support their charity as well as help the hospital.
